An introduction to playing Russian Solitaire
Start Russian Solitaire by looking at the playing area and its controls. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Make your first input carefully and watch the result. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.
Yukon-style deal, same-suit building, no stock. Free solo play, no wagering.
Bring this focus to a round
Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Keep the objective visible.
Understand the aim
Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Start with a deliberate move.
Work through the instructions
- Move any face-up card and its tail onto the next higher rank of the same suit. Kings fill empty columns.
- Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
- Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
- Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.
Making selections and moves
Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Read the example below alongside these instructions.
Put the rules into context
A heart 6 fits a heart 7, not a spade 7. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Choose a deliberate next step.
One detail worth checking
Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal.
